How it is worked out

The base is the familiar estimate of maximum heart rate — 220 minus your age. A share of that is taken, and the share depends on what you answered in the questionnaire: the higher the risk level, the calmer the corridor.

Age comes from the card filled in at the desk; without it the portal falls back on the age band from the questionnaire. So the date of birth is not a formality: with it the corridor is yours, without it it is an approximation.

Why walk inside it

Below the corridor the walk is pleasant and trains almost nothing. Above it you enter a load nobody comes to a spa for: the goal here is recovery, not a record.

Inside it the thing spa trails were invented for happens: heart and vessels get an even, manageable load, and there is still strength left for the evening's treatments.

What to do with the number

Where to read your pulse

On the watch. The phone neither measures nor shows your pulse — the watch records it, around the clock and more accurately. That is why the portal says «check your pulse on the watch» at the start of a walk and shows for five seconds where that number sits on the face.

After the walk the pulse reaches the portal by itself and is shown beside the route map: average, maximum, and the share of time spent inside the corridor.
